Sometimes the best opportunities come from the places you least expect. For Ty Walker, it was trout farming. Like a lot of people chasing a better life, he and his wife were simply trying to put food on the table.

At the time, they were raising livestock on his grandparents’ land and doing everything they could to get by. Then one unexpected phone call changed their direction: an old trout farm in Newcastle was up for sale.

They knew almost nothing about trout fishing or running a fish farm. No investors. No safety net. Just savings, a big risk, and a belief that maybe this could change their future.

The early years were brutal. They cleaned neglected ponds, learned through expensive mistakes, and went completely broke before they had anything to sell. Ty even worked at a grocery store just to help keep things afloat. There were plenty of moments when quitting would’ve been easier… but they kept going.
