Video Description

No matter where you are in your career and what future path you aspire to, everyone needs leadership skills. However, learning these skills can prove challenging when our training and jobs focus on science. This webinar provided the opportunity to reflect on the leadership skills that are essential for your success and the development of those around you.

Our invited Speaker, Professor Jen Heemstra, is the Charles Allen Thomas Professor of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. An avid science communicator and mentor, she has received numerous awards for her teaching, research, and leadership, including the Cottrell Scholar Award and the National Science Foundation CAREER Award. Heemstra is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has recently published her book 'Labwork to Leadership' which outlines essential strategies for motivating lab members, communicating key values and inspiring confidence.

This webinar was chaired by Dr Sean Flynn, University of Exeter.
