A 81 Year Old Self-Made Millionaire Shares Her Best Life Advice

Video

Video Description

She made her first million at 56. Lost everything at 61. Rebuilt it by 63. Now at 81, Dericia is sharing the raw, unfiltered truth about money, fear, love, and the one piece of advice that kept her stuck for 30 years.

This isn't a motivational speech. This is a woman running out of time to tell you what she wishes someone had told her.

🔑 What you'll learn in this video:
• Why you're not lazy — and what's actually stopping you
• The real reason the people who love you hold you back
• What truly wealthy people look like (it's not what you think)
• The one thing money can never buy back
• How to stop waiting for permission to start your life

📌 Timestamps:
0:00 — The worst advice she ever received
1:12 — "You are not lazy. You are afraid."

Money Matters is a series where I have conversations with normal people such as you and I, on your personal finance issues. It is important to note that I am NOT a financial expert, I am NOT SEBI registered, and I am NOT qualified to give financial advice. Everything that I say in these videos is purely through my own experiences.

So these videos do not offer any stock tips, or specific mutual fund recommendations or get-rich-quick schemes. I am not selling any product or service through these videos.
None of the brands that I mention in these videos have paid me to mention them, unless I explicitly say so (and I will say if the video is sponsored).

This also means that my advice may not always be the right advice. So incase I make a mistake, the best way to correct me will be to share your point of view in the comments, so that everyone can benefit from it.

I am not perfect, nor claiming to be either and would love to learn and grow. The idea is simply to help people with their finance journey and through their story try to help others who may have a similar story.

In today's Money Matters episode, I spoke to Ankit, who's drowning in debt despite earning ₹40,000 monthly. With ₹27,000 in EMIs, ₹2 lakh credit card outstanding, and loans from money apps charging 30-40% interest, his financial situation had spiraled completely out of control.

My advice to Ankit was tough but necessary: complete transparency with family, converting high-interest debt to gold loans, selling the recently purchased car, and potentially settling credit card debt. This case perfectly illustrates how emotional spending and lack of financial discipline can create a vicious cycle. The path to recovery requires brutal honesty, family support, and a structured 2-3 year debt elimination plan with zero additional borrowing.
