In this Money Matters episode, I help Sumit, a 28-year-old living in Delhi, tackle his financial challenges. Despite having a stable job earning ₹60,000 monthly, Sumit was struggling with multiple loans including personal loans, gold loans, and credit card debt totaling over ₹3 lakhs. What made his situation more complex was that he was simultaneously investing in ULIPs and mutual funds while carrying high-interest debt – a common mistake many young professionals make.

I walked Sumit through a comprehensive debt elimination strategy. We discussed why paying 25-30% interest on credit cards while expecting 10-12% returns from mutual funds is financially counterproductive. The episode covers practical steps for debt consolidation, emergency fund protection, and a clear roadmap that could help him become debt-free within 2 years and potentially accumulate ₹11-20 crores by retirement through disciplined investing.
